Artists

Shigeru Uchida, Aldo Rossi
1989 marked a milestone for Japan's leading interior designer Shigeru Uchida (1943-2016), who commissioned architect Aldo Rossi to design Japan's first design hotel, Il Palazzo in Fukuoka. The project featured renowned creators like Ettore Sottsass, Shiro Kuramata, and Ikko Tanaka, gaining global recognition. The following year, Rossi won the prestigious Pritzker Prize.

This exhibition will showcase various product designs by Uchida, including "Dear Morris" (1989, hall clock), which was revived in homage to Uchida and Rossi during the 2023 renewal of Hotel Il Palazzo, as well as "Dear Vera" (1989, desk clock), which is being revived in Japan.
