Tracing Names and Contours

Marco Gallery
Until Apr 18

Artists

Haruka Sawada, Waka, Takuya Watanabe
We name things to understand the world. Naming helps us organize existence and preserve it in memory, while what remains unnamed is often overlooked and forgotten. This exhibition seeks to peel back such fixed meanings and focus instead on those that emerge through the body, experience, and memory.

Watanabe traces the histories and memories behind plants, revealing hidden layers of time. Sawada paints unnamed flowers, giving form to presences that resist categorization. Haga cuts and shapes iron, confronting the weight of meaning both physically and symbolically.

Through their works, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider where a “landscape of reality” can be found—not as something fixed, but as something that arises through attention, encounter, and imagination.
