NICA: Nihonbashi Institute of Contemporary Arts

NICA, which officially opened on January 16, 2015, is an experimental laboratory for global dissemination, practicing the emergence of art and creativity from the heart of Tokyo. Its main members are Keijiro Niino (director), Tomohiro Okada (planning committee member), and Shoko Kato (planning committee member). The small art center, which opened in the basement of Nihonbashi-Odenmacho, once the commercial center of Edo, aims to be a space that embodies art in a stimulating yet gentle way, as an artistic device for evolving the times and society for the creative city of Tokyo. NICA has hosted Shoko Kato's "Dialogues International Duo Exhibition" four times. Since 2013, it has been used as a venue for the AAN-sponsored "Geijutsu Eigo Juku" (Art English School).
