The 2017 film program at Le Studio, the a 40-seater private cinema located on the 10th floor of Maison Hermès Ginza, is organized around the theme “Le Sense du Objet (Object Sense).” The title that will screen throughout July is director Sion Sono’s poetic “The Whispering Star,” which is set throughout the galaxy and addresses the bonds between people, things and memory.

Initially conceived 25 years ago, this work is the first film to be produced by Sion Production, the company founded by this talented director. It is set in a universe where the number of humans has decreased drastically due to their devastating mistakes causing large-scale disasters. Machines dominate this universe where human beings are now recognized as an endangered species soon to be extinct. One day she must travel to a planet known as “The Wispering Star,” where it is rumored that if one makes a sound larger that 30 decibels, the humans there will die… This unique science fiction masterpiece was shot in Fukushima following 3.11.
