Masaya Chiba Exhibition
Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery
Ends in 16 days
Masaya Chiba is a promising young painter and art school professor. He creates his works with human-shaped objects made from materials such as clay or wood, beginning with provisional landscapes he creates with meticulous arrangements of things around him. His works blur distinctions between painting and sculpture and 2D and 3D art. He is known for his “Portraits” series applying his own face to portraits of stage actresses and athletes. In addition to painting, he also produces photography, film, installations, sound art, performances, and archives. This exhibition is an opportunity to witness Chiba’s bold approach to art history and media manipulation in his unique and exciting works.
