Shigene Kanamaru
Shigene Kanamaru, founder of the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art, was a pioneer of advertising photography in Japan and a leading figure in the emerging field of photography. 40 years after his death, this exhibition will introduce the photographic activities of Kanamaru. Around 100 images will be showcased, including photographs taken for advertisements as well as snapshots, photographs of the Berlin Olympics and shots used in national propaganda. You can see original publications, original prints and new prints made from existing negatives.
