Kirie" expresses a unique world by making the most of the characteristics of paper, one of the most familiar materials. In Japan, kiri-e has developed a unique culture while being connected with the culture of festivals and kimonos.

This exhibition spotlights seven of Japan's leading female paper cutout artists, Hina Aoyama, SouMa, Yuna Chikushi, Risa Fukui, Masayo, Maki Matsubara, and Kyoko Yanagisawa, and introduces their representative works and approximately 110 new pieces. With scissors and knives in hand, these women use their own techniques to breathe life into a single sheet of paper, creating a world of their own. The possibilities of kiri-e expression know no bounds, as they expand from two to three dimensions.
