Artists

Masahisa Fukase
A solo exhibition of Masahisa Fukase (1934-2012), an artist selected by the museum for its second round of priority collections. This exhibition will introduce the activities of an artist who was not only a contemporary of Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama but also pioneered new expressions from the 1960s to the 70s—the golden age of Japanese photography. Based on works in the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum collection, the exhibition will be composed of the major works of Masahisa Fukase. We investigate his singular expression while bringing an appealing character into relief.
