AMBIENT KYOTO is an innovative audiovisual art exhibition created in tandem with the traditions and wisdom of Kyoto. The first edition in 2022 featured the sound and light exhibition of the founder of ambient music, Brian Eno.
AMBIENT KYOTO 2023 will showcase works of leading Japanese artists and musicians, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Shiro Takatani, Cornelius, Buffalo Daughter, and Seiichi Yamamoto. The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 6 through December 24, 2023.

In addition to the Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank Former Welfare Center, Kyoto Shimbun Building B1F space will join the venue list. Besides the main exhibition, this year's edition will also feature a live performance by an American composer and master of minimal music, Terry Riley, at the Noh stage of Higashi Honganji Temple on October 13 (Fri) and October 14 (Sat).

Executive Committee's message reads:
Ambient music is not just sound, but an integral part of the climate and culture in which it is played. Ambient music also represents a new set of values that show how humanity should approach the environment in the future. This exhibition aims to create a unique experience in collaboration with the climate, culture and people of Kyoto.
AMBIENT KYOTO will continue to serve its original purpose by continuing to work with the city of Kyoto. We will continue to hold exhibitions with the aim of making Kyoto a "sacred place for ambient art" that is recognised not only domestically but also internationally.
