DIG SHIBUYA 2026 / Digital Garage DRONE SHOW “Earthshot”
DIG SHIBUYA 2026 returns to the vibrant Shibuya district from February 13 to 15, transforming the area into a three-day festival of art and technology. Organized by the SHIBUYA CREATIVE TECH Committee in partnership with the Japan Arts Council, Agency for Cultural Affairs, and Shibuya City, the festival presents over 30 programs—from exhibitions and live performances to interactive installations—all within a 15-minute walk of Park Avenue.
Among the highlights is "DIG SHIBUYA THEATRON - A One-Day Urban Theater on Park Avenue by ALTEMY," held on February 14, which turns Shibuya Park Avenue into a temporary open-air urban theater. Conceived by architectural design studio ALTEMY, produced by PARCO, with music direction by composer Shuta Hasunuma, the project uses partial traffic restrictions to create a "theatron"—an open-air performance space where passersby naturally become the audience. The 360-degree configuration blurs the line between spectator and participant, allowing visitors to encounter performances and installations from every angle.

The signage exhibition "SCREENS CONTEXTUALIZED" (February 13 - 15) opens digital screens scattered throughout Shibuya—including MIYASHITA PARK, Shibuya MODI, and Shibuya Station—to over 40 artists. By deploying digital public art across the district's signage network, the program transforms Shibuya into an "outdoor museum."

At SUPER DOMMUNE on the 9th floor of Shibuya PARCO, visitors can engage with "AI × Literature - 'Drawing a Novel with Vocal Cords' - AI Masaya Nakahara," presented by media artist Naohiro Ukawa and DOMMUNE. This experimental literary project invites visitors to co-author stories through voice dialogue with an AI trained on the complete works of Mishima Prize-winning author Masaya Nakahara. Text generated through real-time vocal interaction is visualized instantly, creating a form of live literature—a constantly evolving narrative shaped by human-AI collaboration.

On February 13, the spirit of Ryuichi Sakamoto returns to Shibuya through "RADIO SAKAMOTO – 'Uday' A Night Where the Future of Music Emerges," a future-oriented music festival spanning three venues: Spotify O-EAST, duo MUSIC EXCHANGE, and Azumaya. The lineup features Korean DJ and producer 250 alongside KIRARA and STUTS, plus Shuta Hasunuma's experimental music project "HEAR HERE – GATHERING."

That same day, Shibuya Stream Hall hosts the "DIG SHIBUYA 2026 Opening Event & Meet-Up; Artists, Startups, and Creative Technology," bringing together international artists, creators, and creative-tech startups. Beyond talk sessions and startup pitches, the event includes a hands-on workshop led by Korean digital artist Seo Hyojung, who co-created the festival's visual identity, and offers participants an opportunity to explore motion and generative design.
