Sayoko Eri
"Kiri-Kane" is a decorative technique used in Buddhist artworks. Also known as "Cut-Gold Leaf", it is done by cutting layered sheets of gold leaves into fine strips or other shapes using a knife made of bamboo. These pieces are then glued on the surface of the artwork with the tip of a brush.
Sayoko Eri revived this traditional technique, and was designated as a recognized holder of the "Important intangible cultural asset Kiri-Kane" in the year 2005. This event will display the work of "National Living Treasure" Sayoko Eri alongside with those of her husband, the master Buddhist sculptor Kokei-shi , including Buddha statues, folding screens, two dimentional artworks, and more.
