"Graphic Messages from ggg & ddd 1986-2006" Exhibition

Ginza Graphic Gallery
The Ginza Graphic Gallery opened in March 1986 as a base for Dai Nippon Printing’s cultural activities, followed five years later by the ddd gallery in Osaka’s Dojima district. Since then, these two galleries in eastern and western Japan have invited cutting-edge designers from all over the world to give exhibitions.

The present exhibition has gathered representative works produced between 1986 and 2006 by about 170 designers from 25 nations, who have exhibited at the two galleries over the past two decades. The exhibition comprises two phases, with January devoted to Japanese artists and February to designers from overseas. It is also an attempt to demonstrate how design has confronted, coexisted with, and provided solutions for an era in which values are rapidly changing in response to technological progress, the development of multimedia, and cultural transformation. It is our hope that this exhibition will allow visitors to have a glimpse into a creative future for design.

The exhibition will later be rendered into a digest for publications and our Web sites.
