Artists

Tomoko Atsuchi
Tomoko Atsuchi was born in 1984. She is currently enrolled at the graduate school at Kyoto City University of Arts. Strongly influenced by the work of John Currin and Neo Rauch, Atsuchi's paintings are clearly representational, although their brush strokes also have a strong tendency towards abstraction. Broadly classifiable as either portraits or landscapes, Atsuchi's work has a unique humor that hints at new possibilities for the next generation of Japanese painters.

This is Atsuchi's first solo exhibition at Taro Nasu, showcasing about 10 paintings including a large work measuring 180 by 350 cm.
