In October 2008, the art unit Chim Pom wrote "pika", roughly meaning "flash!", in katakana in the sky above Hiroshima City. This act was initially meant to be material for their video piece, but inadvertently turned into a big scandal involving the media, government offices and the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, where their exhibition was scheduled to be held. After the incident, however, their show was canceled (voluntarily withdrawn by the artists) in consideration of the offended atomic bomb victims.

Soon after, this incident was followed by a public apology conducted in front of the group of victims and the media. In March, the works "Flashing the sky above Hiroshima" and "Real Paper Cranes" were exhibited for only three days in Harajuku, but many of you might not have seen them. For seven days only, NaDiff Gallery showcases the Chim Pom works that led to the controversy.
