Kei Yamazaki + Takumi Kohchi “Colors While Our Blink”

Gallery Soumei-do
Finished

Artists

Kei Yamazaki, Takumi Kohchi
Kohchi, who usually produces and shows paintings, touched on the creation of prints and described the temporary shielding of the surface caused by the pressing process during printing as such.

For Yamazaki, who interweaves printmaking and painting in her work, that idea was both surprising and deeply felt, as if she was immediately familiar with it.

The image is created on a plate, ink is applied, covered by the paper, goes through the press….and when the paper is turned over, the image jumps out at us. The image that is transferred from the plate to the paper is always fresh. The special moment that only the artist or printer can see may indeed be similar to the blink of an eye.

The two artists reflect on the scenery that is colored when they open their eyes again from their daily life, where they still have a closed-eyed sense of entrapment. They will express the vivid impression of “print”, a picture that blinks, with the colors that they both cherish.
