Katsuya Terada
Katsuya Terada, whose work is popular both in Japan and abroad for its intricate lines, will be exhibiting not only his new paintings but also three-dimensional works for the first time in six years at Zingaro.

Terada, who says that he is constantly drawing pictures in his mind, is also known as “Rakuga King” (from “Doodling (-ing)”) and “Painter’s Demon”. His detailed works, drawn with an overwhelming amount of lines, have many fans not only in Japan but also overseas.

Terada says that he was influenced by the French bandes dessinées, which he encountered when he was in high school, and developed his own style of line drawing. By drawing lines that do not naturally exist in the natural world as lines, he gives form to original images and creates a single painting. For this exhibition, Terada also created his first bronze work.
