A massive screen projection reveals the world of five great painters – Hokusai, Hiroshige, Sotatsu, Korin, and Jakuchu

Artists

Hokusai Katsushika, Hiroshige Utagawa, Jakuchu Ito, Sotatsu Tawaraya, Korin Ogata
DTIP (Dynamic Texture Image Processing) technology developed by Ars Techne Corp. translates these ukiyo-e masterpieces into ultrahigh-definition digital masters. Everything from the uneven surface detail that reflects Hokusai and Hiroshige’s skilled touch to the delicate fiber strands in the traditional washi paper has all been successfully captured and reproduced with three-dimensional realism.

Cutting-edge digital scanning and multi-layered data images processing captures materials such as the gold leaf, gold foil strips, gold flakes, and gold dust of the byobu folding screens and fusuma sliding doors, and the subtle difference of artists’ expression. Stories exquisitely depicted by Sotatsu, Korin, and Jakuchu come to life in vibrant detail.

First showing from 10:40. Held at 10 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour thereafter. Last showing from 18:40.
