Moe Nakamura
After graduating from Joshibi University of Art and Design’s Graduate School of Fine Arts and Music in 2012, Moe Nakamura has participated in numerous group exhibitions and is an up-and-coming young artist who has been attracting attention overseas after exhibiting at an art fair in Taiwan in 2014.

Nakamura’s works, carved from logs of camphor and other wood and colored with oil paint, look like fairies clad in plants and clouds, with plump, pink cheeks that are very endearing. On the other hand, her eyes are lightly closed or gazing into the distance, giving us a strange feeling that the destination of her gaze is left up to the viewer.

In “Our Whereabouts”, Nakamura’s idea is to “find the light while wandering” in this situation. The exhibition will feature a total of about 20 pieces of wood sculpture and two-dimensional works, including new works. In addition, “Inside Us” will be held at Gallery Tsubaki from September 3 (Fri) to September 25 (Sat).
