“When you look at a flower, what do you see in it?”
In 1979, Nam June Paik drew two flowers – one on a television monitor and the other planted in a pot with the word "Flux" on it. In Paik’s words, "Once you are on videotape, you are not allowed to die. Will the flowers appearing on the monitor be allowed to wither?”

With the global pandemic, in just two years meeting someone in person has become a special experience. Encounters with others now commonly occur through monitor screens. In these circumstances, we depend greatly on the sense of sight, which is increasingly becoming a shared experience with others.

This exhibition invites you to experience a visual journey through 160 works by artists in the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art’s collection, as well as pieces by guest artists. It features Andy Warhol's first collection of drawings, Nam June Paik’s works, blackboard drawings by Joseph Beuys, and more.
