In July 2022, the curtain will come down on the Takatsuki Gendai Theatre, a longtime favorite of Takatsuki City residents, and in March 2023, the history of Takatsuki Castle Park Art & Culture Theatre will be inaugurated. For only eight days in between, a time of art where memories and surprises meet will appear.
The first act is an exploration of the Civic Hall, a building built in 1964 that was the center of civic activities and once a wedding hall. The entrance, which was closed in July, will be reopened and visitors will be taken on a journey from the backyard to the stage, from the tatami room to the entrance, and from the backyard to the stage.
The second act takes place in the streets of Takatsuki. The two-member art collective “Orangcosong" has created "Engeki Quest," a walking tour project that explores cities around the world. They will present a new work written and researched by actually walking around the city of Takatsuki.
Takatsuki Art Time "Interlude" will be held as a pre-event to celebrate the opening of Takatsuki Castle Park Arts and Culture Theatre, in collaboration with the city of Takatsuki, Takatsuki City Cultural and Sports Promotion Foundation, and Kyoto University of Art and Design's Department of Art Production.
