Lee Ufan
Having voraciously absorbed a variety of Eastern and Western thought and literature, Lee Ufan developed a deep interest in contemporary art in the 1960s and began creating works in earnest in the late 1960s. Trying to overcome the uncertainty of vision, Lee led a trend known as the "Mono-ha," in which natural and man-made materials are combined and presented with a posture of moderation. He also developed a worldview in which everything is based on interrelationships, not only in the visual arts but also in his writings.

This exhibition will bring together representative works, from his early works that questioned the issue of vision before the "Mono-ha" movement, to the "Relational Term" series that changed the concept of sculpture, to his highly spiritual paintings that play with serene rhythms. In addition to past works that trace Lee's creative path, the exhibition will also feature new works that show a new frontier of his art.
