Hachinohe Art Museum's concept of "Art Farm for Encounters and Learning" is embodied in the two pillars of the museum, "Exhibitions" and "Projects". The museum has invited Tsukasa Mori, former curator of Art Tower Mito and currently overseeing various projects at the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, as the guest curator of "Beautiful Hug!"

People give "hugs" as a form of communication to express affection and friendship. In Japan, hugs are not as common as they are in the West, but many people may think of hugs exchanged with respect, such as when acknowledging a partner despite differing opinions or values, when communicating the absence of hostility, or when praising a defeated opponent for his or her strength and good fight in a game.

The newly renovated Hachinohe Art Museum has chosen as the theme for its second spring exhibition since its opening the idea of creating a place where "museum exhibitions" and "local art projects" can organically intersect and where people from various backgrounds can meet like huggers through artworks.
