Design Ah! Exhibition Neo is an experiential exhibition that brings to life the spirit of the NHK E-TV program Design Ah! Neo. Building on the success of previous editions—first held in 2013 at 21_21 Design Sight, and later touring six museums across Japan, including Miraikan and the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design between 2018 and 2021—this third installment presents a renewed vision. While continuing to encourage children to think and discover through the lens of design, Design Ah! Exhibition Neo introduces an entirely new theme.
Whereas past exhibitions centered on things, this edition shifts focus to actions, such as walking, eating, sitting, or holding. Through installations that actively engage the body, visitors are invited to re-experience everyday movements from a design-driven perspective. This exhibition also showcases immersive works unique to Design Ah! Neo, including a 360-degree installation that envelops visitors in video and sound.
Held at Tokyo Node, a newly opened cultural complex in central Tokyo, the exhibition extends the experience from start to finish. From the moment visitors step out of the subway to their arrival at the exhibition hall on the 45th floor, they encounter moments of surprise, a journey filled with sparks of “Ah!”
