Foster + Partners Industrial Design
AXIS Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mitsuhira Shimazaki), an organization dedicated to promoting design, is pleased to present 'one to one', an exhibition showcasing the work of Foster + Partners Industrial Design from its earliest creations to the present day. The exhibition will run from Friday, November 13, to Sunday, November 29, 2026, at AXIS Gallery.
Industrial design creates the touchpoints through which we experience the world around us. Taking a seat, operating a light, opening a door or using a device are experiences in which form, material, function and human behavior come together.
'One to one' is an exhibition that explores the work of Foster + Partners Industrial Design. It moves across different contexts and scales - from furniture and lighting to building systems and infrastructure - and reveals the thinking, making and collaboration behind them.
Industrial design has been part of Foster + Partners - a global practice for sustainable architecture, urbanism, engineering and design - since the early years, beginning with Lord Norman Foster's development of the table that became Nomos in the 1980s. Today, the Industrial Design studio works autonomously and in close collaboration with the wider practice. This allows ideas and expertise to move between objects and the spaces in which they are experienced.
This exhibition invites visitors to look beyond the objects themselves to discover the relationships and processes that shaped them.
