Ryukyu historical materials collected by the Historical Archives of the University of Tokyo since the Meiji period. Some of them include valuable historical materials that have been lost by the earthquake and war and cannot be seen in Okinawa now. In this exhibition, we will unravel the history of Ryukyu through ancient document and pictorial drawings, including Japanese historical materials, which will be unveiled for the first time in Okinawa.
The Archives of the University of Tokyo is a research institute that collects, investigates, and researches historical materials related to Japanese history. Its origin dates back to the Meiji era, and since then, it has been responsible for building the foundation of Japanese history research by organizing and analyzing various historical materials such as ancient document, diaries and records. In particular, it is widely known for the publication of historical materials such as "Daini Nihon Historical Materials", which edited and edited historical materials. In addition, for many years, we have been conducting surveys, shooting, and collecting Ryukyu-related historical materials, and have passed on many valuable records to future generations. This exhibition introduces the rich world of Ryukyu's history and culture through the results of such research and research.
