Giorgio De Chirico: Metaphysical Journey

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
Until Aug 29

Artists

Giorgio de Chirico
Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) is one of the leading masters of the 20th century. His "metaphysical paintings" (paintings expressing an extraordinary world through fantastic landscapes and still life), which he began to paint around 1910, had a great influence on many artists and international art movements.

This exhibition introduces de Chirico's works from his early years to his later years, divided into themes such as "Piazza Italia," "Metaphysical Interiors," and "Manukan," covering approximately 70 years of his painting career. This is the first large-scale solo exhibition of Giorgio de Chirico's work in Japan in 10 years.
