Haruna Hayakawa
This exhibition is a ceramic installation that explores thoughts and emotions before they become words. When communicating with others, people unconsciously select and shape their thoughts into coherent language. However, unspoken and unorganized thoughts also play an essential role in forming one’s inner self.
Hayakawa visualizes these pre-verbal states of mind by overlapping them with the image of a fetus—an existence that is not yet defined, yet undeniably alive and filled with potential energy. Through ceramic forms and spatial composition, the exhibition presents a space where unfinished thoughts remain as they are. Rather than presenting completed answers, the exhibition preserves the state of “thinking in progress.” Visitors are invited to physically and emotionally engage with the space, encountering their own inner, pre-linguistic sensations. The contrast between the tangible materiality of clay and the intangible nature of thought is a key aspect of the exhibition, offering a contemplative environment that gently affirms the value of unarticulated inner experiences.
