Since 2011, Nikken Sekkei has explored a wide range of digital technologies in architecture and urban design, including environmental simulation, data visualization, automated design, XR, interface design and digital fabrication. Over the years, these projects have generated more than technical solutions and finished works. They have built up a body of knowledge through the process of interpreting real-world data, turning it into meaningful information and applying it to design. Ideas, techniques and insights have also carried across projects, informing new approaches along the way.
Yet as data becomes increasingly vast, complex and scattered, much of this accumulated knowledge remains untapped, difficult to interpret and put to use.
Information × Intelligence looks back on nearly 15 years of accumulated information, knowledge and experience, not simply as a record of past work but as a foundation for future design. By revisiting these practices as a resource for new ideas, the exhibition explores how existing knowledge and experience can open up new possibilities for design and shape its future.
