This exhibition introduces the work of Katsuya Kamo (1965-2020), a hair and makeup artist who collaborated with some of the world's most renowned fashion brands and was active at the cutting edge of fashion. Kamo worked on the hair and makeup for top brand shows and fashion magazine photoshoots, making a significant impact on the fashion scene both domestically and internationally. His avant-garde hair and makeup designs, which featured elements like covering the faces of models, using paper spikes and roses, crushed mirrors, and large quantities of bird feathers, combined innovation with elegance and aesthetic beauty, garnering attention with each presentation. Among his creations, Kamo's headpieces are particularly notable for their universal beauty akin to sculptures, standing out as unique art pieces within the realm of fashion.
The exhibition features headpieces used in top brand fashion shows, along with magazine articles, records of his idea sources and production processes, and three-dimensional works created in his private time, providing a comprehensive overview of Kamo's creative activities. This marks Kamo's first solo exhibition in an art museum.
