MM (Material Matters) is a material research initiative by SKAC and DAIKEI MILLS that explores new roles and possibilities for materials through experimentation, collaboration, and making. Beyond the materials themselves, MM seeks to make visible the processes behind their transformation - sharing the research, techniques, and exchanges that shape their development. Working with architects, designers, artists, manufacturers, and other collaborators, MM serves as a platform for investigating the potential of materials across disciplines and scales. These explorations will be collected and made publicly accessible through an open material library, creating a shared resource where materials, processes, and knowledge can be discovered, studied, and further developed.
