Makiko Yamaguchi : Resonating with the Colors of the Earth

Kure Municipal Museum of Art
Until Jun 21

Artists

Makiko Yamaguchi
We are pleased to introduce Makiko YAMAGUCHI (1962-), an artist born in Kure City, through a selection of her past and recent works. Her art is characterized by the soft diffusion of colors and the delicate texture of the paper. These elements, while rooted in sophisticated sketches, embrace a high degree of contingency.

This exhibition showcases a diverse range of her artworks, accompanied by various sketches and drawings that offer insight into her creative process. The selection spans from her "Flight" series—featured in the "DOMANI: The Art of Tomorrow" exhibition at The National Art Center, Tokyo, in 2012—to her recent series, "Rhythm of the Earth" and "River Flowing to the Sea." The latter was particularly inspired by the scenery of her hometown, Kure.
