The exhibition presents photographs from Masahiko Taniguchi’s 2004 photobook Child and the Great Buddha, capturing the landscapes and people of Shonan, including Enoshima, Kamakura and Kugenuma, around 1999.

Among them, a photograph of white posts along Kugenuma’s shore and a boy floating in the sea stands out. Twenty-seven years later, Futami-kan, once an emblem of Enoshima, has given way to a new landmark, while the white posts still appear each summer.

What has disappeared, what remains and what is yet to be lost. Over time, the “points” captured by Taniguchi have become a “line”, extending into the distance. The exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the vivid beauty and sadness of these lingering images.
