Masayasu Mitsuke
Ota Fine Arts Tokyo is delighted to announce Mitsuke Masayasu’s first solo exhibition in four years, following his last show in 2022. Mitsuke, who has inherited the tradition of overglaze red enamels painting, a decorative technique of Kutani-yaki, is known for his extraordinary virtuosity. He renders intricate patterns in lines and dots so fine they are barely discernible to the naked eye. Yet the true brilliance of his skill lies in his ability to create singular designs that seem to belong to no particular era or culture.
In this exhibition, Mitsuke presents a wall installation in which the spaces opened up by each work appear to overlap one another. With patterns that evoke the infinite, the installation reveals a dynamic new dimension of Mitsuke’s practice.
