Miho SUDOH has been creating and exhibiting paintings since the 1980s. In recent years, she has developed a distinctive artistic world in which reality and fantasy intertwine, with exuberantly blooming flowers and young girls dressed in traditional kimono as recurring motifs. Her rich, deep colors, meticulous details, and lavish compositions incorporating gold and silver leaf evoke a sense of mystery alongside their sensuous beauty.
The girls in SUDOH's paintings, dressed in vibrant, elegant kimono, possess a narrative quality beneath their delicate appearance that invites the viewer's imagination. Meanwhile, the flowers that bloom across her canvases radiate an overwhelming presence, filled with vivid colors and vitality. Girls and flowers, realism and ornamentation, reality and unreality—these elements overlap and intertwine to create a dreamlike world uniquely her own.
This exhibition will feature a diverse selection of works, including Floral Reverie, depicting a kimono-clad girl surrounded by large, blooming flowers, as well as paintings devoted to flowers themselves and delicate botanical watercolors.
