Gallery KITAI is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Mizuho Koyama. Koyama delves deeply into poems and stories that have been read and passed down across generations, reinterpreting and reconstructing them through her own sensibility and perspective, and transforming them into her distinctive visual language. The exhibition will feature 11 works, including Visitor, one of her representative works, in which a poem by the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi, Guest House, is presented in the form of a traditional Japanese hanging scroll. The exhibition also includes part of a series based on The Tale of Genji, as well as collage works and a series of assemblage box works. Through transforming words and stories from classical literature into characters, lines, materials, and space, Koyama creates a new visual language that moves between literature and contemporary art.
