Emerging from downtown New York in the 1970s, punk became a cultural movement extending beyond music into art, fashion, and graphic design. PUNKTURE presents a focused exhibition of selected posters featuring Patti Smith, Television, Talking Heads, Wayne County & The Backstreet Boys, Ramones, and others. Alongside original vintage concert posters, the exhibition features six black-and-white photographic posters associated with the book Blank Generation Revisited – The Early Days of Punk Rock, depicting Patti Smith, Richard Hell, David Byrne, Sid Vicious, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop & Blondie. The exhibition also includes official printed reproductions featuring photographs by Julia Gorton, vintage US punk records, newspapers, and related ephemera. Materials related to American punk scenes beyond New York, including SLASH, the punk magazine founded in Los Angeles, will also be featured. Graphics and print culture born alongside the music.
