This major exhibition presents the work of Koh Hasebe, one of Japan's leading rock photographers. The first Japanese photographer to photograph the Beatles, Hasebe was also known for extensive photographs of Queen and was affectionately called "Koh" by musicians around the world.
After photographing the Beatles in London in 1965, Hasebe became the staff photographer for Music Life, a magazine that played a major role in shaping Japan's music culture. More than 40 years at the forefront of the rock scene produced an extraordinary body of work that became an important record of international rock music.
The exhibition brings together photographs of legendary live performances alongside rare off-stage portraits of some of rock's most celebrated musicians. This summer, rock stars from across generations come together in Kyoto through Hasebe's lens.
