Studio Raw Material
Studio Raw Material’s practice begins not with the new but with what is discarded, used, or left aside. Abandoned marble rubble, local bamboo, traditional handmade paper, mended textile tapestries. A fragment is not an end but a beginning, a point of gathering, reuse and return.
For Studio Raw Material, design begins here, material after material. Their work starts not from a blank page but from landscapes shaped by extraction, communities and their practices of improvisation. The process asks them to pay attention to continuity as much as change. One project becomes the ground for the next. Stone offcuts inform a house; the house leads us to think about objects as space. Rather than separating mediums, material, place and people seep into each other, shaping the work through context as much as form.
