This exhibition does not attempt to pigeonhole the complex aspects of Japanese dolls into a single category of "art," but rather introduces them as dolls in their diversity, thereby questioning the spirit that runs through the very foundation of Japanese three-dimensional art.
Japanese dolls, which transcend boundaries with ease and are not bound by anything, shake up the usual notions of "art" or even "art". What exactly is "art" and what is not? This will be an opportunity to think about "art" itself through puppets.
