In an age of drastic social change defined by increased environmental awareness and technological advancements, the importance of what humans can do is being re-examined. Curated and supervised by Noriko Kawakami, who has been contemplating design at the core of her practice, this exhibition features twenty up-and-coming artists (individuals and collectives) working in art and design who are developing remarkable activities in Japan through flexible approaches that are attentive to the history of humans and the earth.

The “boundless energy toward creation” emitted from the work and activities of these artists who, born mainly in the 1970s and 1980s, deftly connect and reinterpret diverse relationships between the past and future, nature and artifice, and the information environment and real society, will vividly emerge in this exhibition, answering the demands of turbulent times.
