Yoshitomo Nara "The Beginning Place"

Aomori Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Yoshitomo Nara
This is the second solo exhibition at the museum of Yoshitomo Nara (1959- ), an internationally active artist from Hirosaki, Aomori. This exhibition, held 10 years after his last exhibition "A Little Like You and Me" (2012-13), will review the artist's activities over the past 12 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and will also present a number of his outstanding works dating back to his student days.

The title "The Beginning Place" suggests Nara's "hometown" as the "beginning place" of his creation, as well as the "beginning place" created by his encounter with Nara's works.

The exhibition is a unique project of the museum, which began collecting works in the 1990s and boasts the world's largest collection of Yoshitomo Nara's works being held at a single museum.
