Yukino Yamanaka
Yukino Yamanaka has consistently focused on both the material contours of human figures and the states as phenomena, depicting amorphous and non-human entities that flicker in between. Starting with figurative drawings, her style has evolved into abstract drawings using random strokes. The paintings capture the process of transformation from "self" to "something else," portraying our incomplete existence that is moving away from conventional human representations.

The title of the exhibition, "Pose," not only refers to the posture of models depicted in paintings or sculptures but also signifies an attitude that is a mere façade or pretense. The artworks portray whiteout-like voids, liquid flowing through the gaps in the body, and egotistical expressions and poses reminiscent of selfies or artist photographs. By blending these elements seamlessly into the entire canvas, Yamanaka captures the process of mutation from "I" to an indefinable presence, revealing our evolving form as an incomplete entity.

"Pose" also reflects the postures of contemporary life, where appearances are often deceiving, and individuals find themselves in a chaotic feast surrounded by a multitude of generated images. Amidst this whirlwind, we are pushed by human desires and machine algorithms, repeating unstable poses without the ability to distinguish between reality and pretense. The exhibition explores the enigmatic entities emerging from these circumstances, questioning whether it is a decline of humanity or a harbinger of new developments.

The showcase includes 12 new paintings and Yamanaka's first three-dimensional work, delving into the relationship between painting and space in contemporary contexts. It aims to explore the existence of painting and the presence of others that are diminishing in contemporary times. As questions about humanity arise, the exhibition encourages viewers to contemplate what they seek and perceive in the existence of painting.

During the exhibition, new artworks will be displayed and available for purchase. Limited edition goods created for the exhibition and collaboration products with Diesel will also be on sale.
