Hans Christian Andersen
Writer Hans Christian Andersen, born in 1805, had written more than 150 stories before his death in 1875. In his motherland Denmark, he is a national hero, known as a poet, thinker, artist and traveler. His traveling experiences brought various influences to his works. He was taking notes on people's lives in and out of the country together with its scenery views, and was keeping those formidable insights as letters. For this exhibition, the letters addressed to his mother and Charles Dickens in England as well as the horse carriage he used and historical postal items will be shown with the cooperation of the Royal Library of Denmark and the Post & Tele Museum of Denmark.
The aim of this show being to introduce unknown life fragments and work of Andersen, letters and related items will be the focus of the show. A special section will showcase a broader share of Danish culture and a replica of Andersen's house will be installed and allow the visitors to experience the Nordic culture.
