Makito Okada “Farewell”

Imura Art Gallery Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Makito Okada
In a body of new work Makito Okada takes on the myth of Empedocles, who according to legend threw himself into the volcano of Mt. Etna in order to become one with the gods. Empedocles’ last words before he hurled into the flames could well have been “Farewell” leaving behind the world to reach some higher plane and its is with such thought that this exhibition of paintings comes to reflect the artist’s own questions of existence and being in the world.
