Born in 1969 in Shimane Prefecture, Izumi Kato began his painting career in the late 1990s. Known for creating three-dimensional pieces in various materials, in recent years, he has been painting directly on natural stone instead of carving rocks and experimenting with stone casting to expand his creative horizons. Following his overseas debut of aluminum sculptures, this exhibition will be Kato’s first presentation of large-scale aluminum sculptures in Japan.
