Isamu Noguchi
The Akari light fixture is known as Isamu Noguchi’s masterpiece.

Akari was born in the 1950s when Noguchi encountered the traditional Gifu lantern industry, and its warm light and modern design have made it a favorite of many people even today. Noguchi often referred to "Akari" as "the best work of my life," and it occupies an important place in his body of work. This exhibition will feature approximately 30 pieces from the museum collection, introducing the world of "light" that Isamu Noguchi loved so much.
