Moerenuma Park

Moerenuma Park is a comprehensive park planned by Sapporo City as a base park in the "Circular Green Belt Concept," which aims to wrap the urban area of Sapporo with a belt of parks and green spaces. The basic design was created by Isamu Noguchi, a world-renowned sculptor, based on the concept of "the entire park as a single work of sculpture."

The vast site is neatly arranged with hills, fountains, playground equipment, and other facilities that make extensive use of geometric forms, providing a beautiful landscape that blends nature and art. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom, and in summer, water playgrounds, fountains, and other facilities are open to add color to Sapporo's refreshing summer. In autumn, the leaves turn red, and in winter, cross-country skiing and sledding can be enjoyed amidst a blanket of snow.

The park is also attracting attention from the perspective of preserving the natural environment, as the former site of a waste treatment plant has been converted into a park, and a cooling system utilizing snow, a natural energy unique to the region, has been installed in the Glass Pyramid.
