Komaba Museum consists of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural Sciences. The building was originally constructed as the library of the former First High School, the predecessor of the College of Liberal Arts, and in 2003, after a complete renovation of the building, the two museums, which had been independently operating in different locations for many years, were brought together in the same building for the first time.
The two wings of the museum, each with its distinct character, work together to regularly hold joint exhibitions and engage in other activities that transcend the boundaries between the humanities and sciences, as only the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts can do.
