Art Week Tokyo 2022: Over 50 Art Spaces Connected Through Four Days Festival

Tokyo’s citywide annual initiative for contemporary art, Art Week Tokyo, will take place from November 3 to November 6, 2022. Over 50 art spaces will be accessible by shuttle bus.

In collaboration with the international art fair Art Basel, Art Week Tokyo (AWT), a four-day art festival introducing the creativity and diversity of Japanese contemporary art and the communities developed within it, is scheduled to take place from November 3 to November 6, 2022.

Over 50 art spaces will be connected by the shuttle bus that takes six different routes and runs at an interval of 15 minutes. Visitors can enjoy unlimited free rides by simply downloading the free official AWT PASS app, which also features map and bus tracking.

Participating venues include major museums, such as The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, which is currently hosting the Shinro Ohtake exhibition, and Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, currently hosting the Rinko Kawauchi exhibition, as well as top galleries in the art complex area of Roppongi, such as SCAI Piramide and Taka Ishii Gallery, and many emerging galleries in Eastern Tokyo.

AWT PASS

Multiple related programs include the AWT BAR, a meeting spot designed by architect Motosuke Mandai, where visitors can enjoy special cocktails created in collaboration with four artists: Anze Hideo, Rinko Kawauchi, Yuichiro Tamura, and Furoshi Miyagi, and a video program presenting a selection of video works by Japanese and international artists at Earth Garden of SMBC East Tower in Marunouchi (1-3-2 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) from November 2 to November 6.
