Compared to Europe, which swayed the global art scene with its diverse viewpoints coexisting within swiftly changing currents, from the perspective of art history, Japan in many ways lacks such players and the places to bring them organically together. In an art scene easily influenced by economic conditions, galleries such as αM run as non-profits by universities are in a position to produce such places and people of talent, fulfilling a unique role in Japanese art.

Gallery αM grants opportunities for new expressive values and works by young artists and encourages innovative curators capable of bringing novel values into society. With these two concepts, it hopes to create a new history by a new space.
